Creative Operations
Creative operations is the system that moves creative work from request to approved asset. For Meta advertisers it also needs a weekly loop that ranks tests, writes briefs, launches and logs results.

What is creative operations, and what does it mean for Meta advertisers?
Creative operations is the system that gets creative work requested, produced, approved, stored and delivered. For a team buying Meta ads it has a second half: the loop that decides which creative to make next and records what happened.
Key takeaways
- For a Meta advertiser, the half that decides results is the weekly loop of signals, ranked test plan, brief, launch and learning log.
- Job postings for creative operations list production duties, so a Meta team has to give the weekly test loop to a named owner.
- A test without a written hypothesis and decision rule teaches nothing, so every launch gets a log row.
Quick facts
- Postings reviewed
- 12 US postings with Creative Operations or Creative Ops in the title, October 2026
- Test cell size
- About 50 optimization events within 7 days
- Loop steps
- Signals, ranked test plan, brief, produce and launch, learning log
- Log decisions
- Scale, iterate, stop or inconclusive
Most Meta ads never win, and a result nobody wrote down gets paid for again next month. Budget funds only a few tests at a time.
The machinery usually called creative operations covers who requests creative work, who makes it, who approves it and where the files live. It never touches that problem, and a team that burns a week on feedback spread across five tools still needs that machinery fixed.
The fix for the Meta side is a weekly loop of signals, a ranked test plan, a brief, a launch and a learning log. The number of tests it runs is set by what the budget funds and what the team can produce, not by how many ideas arrive.
It is written for whoever owns the weekly decision, whether the title is media buyer, creative strategist or head of growth, in a team too small for a dedicated operations hire.
What is creative operations, and what does it mean for Meta advertisers?
Production workflow is a separate job for project-management and asset-management software. This page covers the loop.
What do creative operations job postings list?
They list production management duties: intake, approvals, project management, asset management and vendors. Of the 12 US postings with Creative Operations or Creative Ops in the title reviewed in October 2026 (listed in Sources), all 12 listed those duties. One, Ro's Creative Ops Manager, Paid Social, also named paid social. None described a test log. They were found by searching for live US postings with those titles, and the 12 that could be opened were kept, so this is a small sample weighted toward large employers.
That count shows what employers write down, not how the work runs day to day. The inference is that if Meta results depend on testing, the loop has to be given to someone by name.
What is the weekly creative operations loop for Meta ads?
The loop has five steps, and each week's log feeds the next week's signals. The cadence is a recommendation, and each step has a pass test that can be run.
The weekly creative operations loop for Meta
Log row fields: test ID, date, hypothesis, single variable, control, spend, optimization events, result against the decision rule, decision, and the next test it feeds. A cell that missed 50 events is marked inconclusive, not lost.
Marketing Brew (September 28, 2026) quotes Olivia Cripps of Billion Dollar Boy saying a video repeated with only different on-screen text is treated as the same creative. The recommendation is to make the variable a different hook (the opening seconds of the ad) or a different visual, not just the text.
- Step
- Signals
- Day
- Mon
- Output
- 5 to 10 candidate ideas drawn from last week's ad results, competitor ads, customer comments and reviews, and the last log
- Passes if
- Every idea cites at least one named ad, comment or review, with a link or ID in the log
- Step
- Ranked test plan
- Day
- Mon
- Output
- Ideas ranked, a cut line, a skip list with reasons
- Passes if
- Concepts kept do not exceed the lower of funded concepts and producible concepts (next section), and every skipped idea has a one-line reason
- Step
- Brief
- Day
- Tue
- Output
- One brief per test: hypothesis, one variable, control ad, decision rule
- Passes if
- The brief states exactly one variable, a control ad, and a decision rule with a metric, a minimum of 50 optimization events and an action for win, loss and inconclusive
- Step
- Produce and launch
- Day
- Wed to Thu
- Output
- Named ads live, each cell funded
- Passes if
- Cell budget ÷ cost per purchase is at least 50 per 7 days (for example $2,000 ÷ $40 = 50)
- Step
- Learning log
- Day
- Next Mon
- Output
- One row per test
- Passes if
- Every row has all ten fields filled and one of four decisions: scale, iterate, stop or inconclusive
How many creative tests can your budget and team support?
Run the lower of two numbers: the concepts your budget funds and the concepts your production line can finish. Meta's learning phase, when delivery is still calibrating, generally needs around 50 optimization events within 7 days (Meta Business Help Center, as of October 2026). An optimization event is the action the ad set optimizes for, such as a purchase.
A test cell is one ad set with its own budget that must reach about 50 optimization events. The two variants of a concept share one cell.
What is creative operations confused with?
Creative operations overlaps project management, asset management, creative strategy and media buying without being any of them.
- Project management moves one job to its deadline. Creative operations is the standing system every job passes through.
- Digital asset management (DAM) is software that stores and labels files. It is one tool inside creative operations.
- Creative strategy decides what to say. The loop decides what to test first and records the result.
- Media buying funds and monitors ad sets. In the loop, the media buyer funds the cells and reports spend and events.
When one person buys media and writes briefs, the learning log has no deadline and is the step that gets dropped, so give it a calendar slot. Related terms: creative iteration (improving a tested ad one change at a time) and the learning phase above.
How Deepsolv handles it
We cover the front of the loop. Our creative intelligence platform for Meta advertising teams combines ad-performance data, competitor activity, customer signals and past ad learnings into ranked weekly creative test plans and execution-ready creative briefs. Past ad learnings is one of the four inputs behind our plans, so the log you keep is worth having either way.
We serve consumer brands, performance marketing teams, creative teams and agencies running Meta ads. Our pricing page explains how plans work. To see the platform on your own account, book a personalized demo with our founding team.
Example
With a $40 cost per purchase, a $6,000 weekly test budget, two variants per concept and four new assets a week, one concept (one cell) needs 50 × $40 = $2,000 a week, about $286 a day. The budget funds $6,000 ÷ $2,000 = 3 concepts, but four assets at two variants each produce only 2, so the team runs 2, the lower. The remaining $2,000 is held for scaling a winner or a third concept when production catches up.
