In brief
The right Meta ads tool depends on the decision your team needs to make. Choose Foreplay for organised competitor signals, Motion for creative analysis, Bïrch for rules automation, AdCreative.ai for asset variants, Marpipe for catalog creative, and Madgicx for broader e-commerce ad operations.
Foreplay
Save, organise, brief, and monitor competitor-ad references.
Choose Foreplay when the bottleneck is collecting competitor-ad inspiration and turning it into organised briefs for a creative team.
Pros
- Its published Basic plan includes Swipe File, Discovery, Briefs, Spyder, and Lens.
- Foreplay describes Spyder as 24/7 Meta competitor-ad tracking.
- The monthly Basic plan is priced for a single user.
Cons
- The $59 monthly Basic plan includes one user.
- It is a subscription layer on top of the public ad research available in Meta Ad Library.
Motion
Analyse connected paid-social creative performance by creative attributes.
Choose Motion when your team needs creative-first reporting after ads have run and wants to group results by the attributes driving performance.
Pros
- Motion describes creative analytics, AI tagging, ad leaderboards, and competitor research.
- Its paid-search page lists a $249 monthly Plus plan.
- Motion supports connected paid-social ad accounts, including Meta.
Cons
- Its analysis depends on connecting ad-account data.
- The published $249 Plus plan is a paid commitment before any ad spend is included.
Bïrch
Automate starts, pauses, budget changes, bids, and alerts for Meta ads.
Choose Bïrch, formerly Revealbot, when a media-buying team already has rules and needs those rules to execute across connected accounts.
Pros
- Bïrch documents automated actions to start, pause, increase, or decrease budgets and bids.
- It supports custom conditions, metric comparisons, and alerts.
- Its pricing page offers a 14-day trial.
Cons
- Bïrch pricing is based on monthly ad spend across connected accounts.
- Automation applies a rule, so it does not replace the work of deciding which creative hypothesis to test.
AdCreative.ai
Generate AI ad assets with platform integrations and creative-insight features.
Choose AdCreative.ai when the immediate constraint is producing ad-asset variations rather than analysing results from a completed test.
Pros
- The Starter configuration includes unlimited generations and ad-platform integrations.
- The product lists AI assets, creative-insight AI, and competitor-insight access.
- The displayed Starter configuration includes 10 monthly credits and one brand.
Cons
- The $29 monthly figure is billed quarterly.
- The displayed Starter configuration is limited to one brand and 10 monthly credits.
Marpipe
Control and test catalog-ad creative treatments.
Choose Marpipe when the creative problem is catalog ads and the team needs design treatments applied and tested across product inventory.
Pros
- Marpipe describes catalog-creative controls and live testing.
- Its Startup plan is listed at $199 per month.
- The product also lists a Free plan and a $999 monthly Enterprise plan.
Cons
- The Startup plan is limited to one channel, one market, and three live designs.
- Its documented focus is catalog creative, so it is narrower than a general creative-intelligence workflow.
Madgicx
Combine automation, targeting, analytics, and ad management in one e-commerce ad platform.
Choose Madgicx when an e-commerce team wants an operational platform spanning automation, targeting, analytics, and ad management.
Pros
- Madgicx describes its platform across automation, targeting, analytics, and ad management.
- Its FAQ says the Automation plan starts at $15 per month.
- Its pricing is configured around monthly ad spend.
Cons
- The starting price does not represent a universal all-in plan price.
- Spend-configured pricing requires the buyer to match the plan to connected-account usage.
Pricing and capability checks use each named provider’s published 2026 product and pricing materials: Foreplay Basic, Motion Plus, Bïrch Essential at the $10K spend tier, AdCreative.ai Starter, Marpipe Startup, and Madgicx Automation. Prices are shown as of September 2026 and are not normalised because billing structures differ. Meta’s official documentation supplies the public-ad-research and A/B-testing boundaries; competitor vendor pages are attributed in words and are not linked.
Public competitor ads are context, not proof
Meta Ad Library lets users search ads currently running across Meta technologies by advertiser or keyword. Meta documents creative content, Page details, delivery dates, and placements for available ads, but those public records do not establish a competitor’s conversions, profitability, attribution, or customer quality. Use competitor research for testable briefs to turn visible patterns into a hypothesis rather than a conclusion.
Meta also says an ad appears in Ad Library within 24 hours of its first impression, with changes reflected within 24 hours. Its historical retention rules differ by category and location, so an active commercial ad should not be treated as a complete historical record.
A tool does not replace a fair test
Meta Blueprint’s 2022 A/B-testing lesson covers choosing a variable and creating an A/B test in Ads Manager. Use a creative testing framework to define the control, variable, success metric, and decision rule before automation or reporting turns a weak comparison into a confident-looking report.
The six cards below are ranked by job fit and published price, not as a universal quality score. A team may use more than one layer when research, production, analysis, and execution sit with different people.

Frequently asked
Choose Foreplay when your immediate need is to save, organise, and monitor competitor-ad references for creative work. Start with Meta Ad Library when you need a direct view of currently running ads, then treat the observed creative as market context rather than evidence of the advertiser’s conversion results.
No. Meta Ad Library can show available creative, associated Page information, delivery dates, and placements, but public competitor-ad records do not reveal the advertiser’s conversions, margin, attribution method, customer quality, or profitability. A visible ad can support a test hypothesis, not prove the result to copy.
You may need both when the team has separate problems. Motion is positioned around connected creative-performance analysis, while Bïrch is positioned around rules that start, pause, or change budgets and bids. Analysis can help identify what happened, while automation carries out a rule after the team decides what should happen.
